SURPRISE DATE NIGHT!

Julio loves old school rap and one of his favs is ICE CUBE. Luckily I was able to buy the last 2 wheelchair accessible tickets and starting planning an epic date night! Since Julio was not able to get into a vehicle yet I had to find a wheelchair van that I could rent for the day. All Julio knew was that I was going to be picking him up for a date and to be ready. It was great to get him into a vehicle and to ride in the front seat! For the past months his only rides were in the back of a hospital transfer vehicle or taxi cab. As we drove he kept asking, “Where are we going?” and I would simply reply… “on an adventure.” We drove and we drove…the concert was in Abbotsford and Julio was confused. As we pulled up to the area, he still had no clue, he thought maybe we were going to a Abby Canucks game. He looked around at the crowd and noticed lots of Raiders gear, people young and old. Finally it clicked. “Are we going to Ice Cube?” He was shocked as I pulled out a Ice Cube shirt for him to wear. We were pleasantly surprised with the wheelchair seating, we had a little table and server. Julio loved the classics, old NWA songs, and watching Ice Cube do the crip walk across the stage.
